From Cruise to Adventurous Escapades: A YouTube Tale

The Little Girl Who Dreamed of Adventures

The Secret Planning Phase: When Dreams Meet Reality

For months, I carried around a secret. It wasn’t the kind of secret that keeps you up at night. It was the exciting kind that makes your heart race every time you think about it. I was planning to launch a second YouTube channel. I hadn’t told a soul, not even my husband and travel partner, Brandon.

Why the secrecy? Well, let me paint you a picture of where we were at the time. Our main channel, @ParkersOnTheGo, was absolutely crushing it. We had just hit 9,500 subscribers. We were mere steps away from that magical 10,000 milestone. Every YouTuber dreams about reaching that milestone. The channel was growing steadily, our community was engaged, and everything was going according to plan.

So naturally, my brilliant idea was to… start over with a completely new channel?

I knew Brandon would think I’d lost my mind. And honestly? He wouldn’t have been wrong to question it. Starting a new YouTube channel from zero when you already have a successful one seems counterintuitive. At best, it’s confusing. At worst, it’s downright crazy.

But here’s the thing about dreams. Sometimes they’re so big and so persistent. They refuse to fit into the neat little boxes we try to put them in.

The Cruise Channel Conundrum: When Success Creates Limitations

Don’t get me wrong – I absolutely LOVE cruising. That first cruise we took together opened up a whole new world for us. The feeling of waking up in a new destination every day was incredible. The excitement of exploring ports we’d never heard of was thrilling. The community of fellow cruisers who became friends made it even more special. It was everything I’d dreamed travel could be.

@ParkersOnTheGo became our love letter to cruise travel. We shared honest reviews, money-saving tips, behind-the-scenes moments, and everything in between. Our community of cruise lovers grew steadily. We found our groove helping first-time cruisers. We also assisted seasoned veterans in navigating the waters (literally and figuratively) of cruise vacations.

But remember that little girl on the porch? She didn’t just dream about cruise ships. She dreamed about RVs, trains, and road trips. She imagined theme parks and international adventures. And yes, she even cherished the simple joy of discovering hidden gems in her own backyard.

As @ParkersOnTheGo grew, we tried integrating other forms of travel. We’d sprinkle in a train trip here, a road trip there, maybe a theme park adventure. But something felt off. Our cruise-loving audience would watch politely, but the engagement told the real story. They came for cruise content, and everything else felt like a detour from what they really wanted.

It was like trying to serve a five-course meal to people who came for pizza. They might try the other dishes. However, they really just wanted that cheesy, familiar comfort food they had come to expect.

The Blueprint: Strategic Planning Meets Passionate Dreams

For months, I worked on what I now call “the blueprint.” Spreadsheets filled with content ideas, channel branding concepts, upload schedules, and growth strategies were meticulously prepared. I approached this new channel with the precision of planning a military operation.

I researched successful travel YouTubers who covered multiple types of travel. I analyzed what worked, what didn’t, and identified potential gaps in the market. I created detailed buyer personas for people who loved ALL types of travel, not just cruising.

Most importantly, I figured out how to position this new channel. It wouldn’t compete with @ParkersOnTheGo. Instead, it would complement it. Two channels. They have two different audiences and two different purposes. However, both serve the same fundamental mission. They help people explore the world in ways that work for their budgets and lifestyles.

The Pitch: Convincing My Co-Creator and Life Partner

I finally felt confident in my blueprint. It was time for the hardest part. I needed to convince Brandon that we should embark on this new adventure together.

Picture the scene: I’m sitting across from my husband with a color-coded presentation. Yes, I went full corporate consultant mode. I’m trying to explain why we should essentially start over. Everything was going so well.

“So let me get this straight,” Brandon said, looking at my meticulously planned charts. “You want to start a new channel from zero subscribers? We’re about to hit 10K on the channel that’s already working.”

When he put it like that, it did sound pretty crazy.

But then I told him about the little girl on the porch. I explained that whenever we shared non-cruise travel on our main channel, it seemed like we were making a request. We were asking our audience to change. We were asking them to be something they weren’t. I showed him the research I’d done on travel content creators who successfully covered multiple travel types. None of them were trying to force everything into a cruise-focused channel.

Most importantly, I shared my vision: What if we could help people fall in love with ALL types of travel? What if someone’s first cruise with us could lead to their first train trip? Could it spark their first international adventure? Perhaps it might inspire their first road trip to discover hidden gems in their own state?

That’s when I saw the spark in his eyes. Brandon isn’t just my husband and co-creator – he’s also someone who caught the travel bug later in life. He understood the transformative power of travel and the importance of showing people that incredible adventures don’t require incredible wealth.

2 Parkers 1 World: The Birth of Our Travel Universe

On May 19, 2025, we uploaded our first video to 2 Parkers 1 World. I’ll be honest – I was terrified. Starting over felt scary, even with all the planning and preparation.

But the response has been absolutely mind-blowing.

In just 6 videos, we’ve:

  • Gained 780 subscribers (our amazing community we’re currently calling “World Wanderers,” though we’re still work-shopping the perfect name!)
  • Achieved over 4,000 watch hours
  • Surpassed 20,000 views
  • Built a community of people who are genuinely excited about ALL forms of travel

These numbers might seem small compared to established channels, but for us, they represent something much bigger. They represent 780 people who share our belief in many things. They believe that adventure comes in many forms. They think that travel should be accessible to everyone. They also believe that the journey is just as important as the destination.

What Makes 2 Parkers 1 World Different

While @ParkersOnTheGo focuses specifically on cruise travel, 2 Parkers 1 World is our playground for everything else. Train travel, road trips, and international adventures are included. Theme parks, hidden gems, and budget travel tips are also featured. If it involves exploring this amazing world we live in, it has a home on our new channel.

But more than just the content types, what makes this channel special is the community we’re building. These are people who, like us, refuse to limit their travel dreams to just one type of experience. They want to cruise the Caribbean AND take the train to Disney World. They want to explore international destinations AND discover hidden gems in their own backyard.

Our “World Wanderers” (again, still open to suggestions for our community name!) are adventurous spirits who understand that travel isn’t about checking boxes or showing off on social media. It’s about connection – to places, to people, to experiences that change how you see the world.

The Response: When Dreams Meet Reality

The support has been overwhelming in the best possible way. Viewers have commented saying they’ve been inspired to plan their first train trip. They also mentioned that they never realized how many incredible destinations were within driving distance of their home. Additionally, they finally feel like there’s a travel channel that speaks to “regular people” like them.

Beyond the comments and views, I am most touched by the messages from people. They share their own “grandma’s porch” moments. The person who used to watch planes fly overhead and dream of faraway places. The family that always talked about taking a cross-country road trip but never knew where to start. The retiree who wants to explore the world but thought they’d missed their chance.

These are our people. These are the dreamers who understand that travel isn’t about luxury or perfection – it’s about curiosity, connection, and the courage to step outside your comfort zone.

Looking Forward: Growing Together

As I write this, we’re approaching some exciting milestones. @ParkersOnTheGo is closing in on 10,000 subscribers, and 2 Parkers 1 World is racing toward our first 1,000. When we hit 1K on the new channel, we’re planning something special. We’ll have a celebration. It will honor this incredible community that chose to join us on this adventure.

We’re thinking live streams, giveaways, maybe even some behind-the-scenes content about how we plan our trips and create our videos. The specifics are still being planned (input welcome!), but the spirit is clear: we want to celebrate not just the numbers, but the community of real people who make this all possible.

The Bigger Picture: Why This Matters

Starting 2 Parkers 1 World isn’t just about having another YouTube channel. It’s about something much bigger than Brandon and me, or even our specific travel adventures.

It’s about proving that you don’t have to be wealthy, young, or perfectly photogenic to explore this world. It’s about showing that incredible adventures can happen on a teacher’s salary, with kids in tow, or even if you’re starting your travel journey later in life.

Most importantly, it’s about honoring that little girl on the porch who dared to dream big. Every RV she watched drive by, every “that’s my bus” declaration, every moment of wondering what was beyond the horizon – it all led to this.

Join Our Journey

If you’ve made it this far in reading our story, there’s a good chance you might be a kindred spirit. Maybe you’re that person who’s always wondered about taking a train trip. Perhaps you have a list of “someday” travel dreams. Or you simply believe that the world is meant to be explored.

We’d love to have you join our community. Check out @ParkersOnTheGo for all things cruise travel, and 2 Parkers 1 World for everything else this amazing world has to offer. Better yet, help us hit those milestone celebrations by sharing our channels with your fellow travel dreamers.

At the end of the day, this is all about turning dreams into reality. We achieve this one adventure at a time.

The little girl on grandma’s porch finally found her bus. It turns out it was big enough for all of us.
